Hurst Athlete takes Bronze representing England

Bronze for Beth Crocker representing England at the EAP International Combined Events

Recent leaver Beth Crocker claimed 3rd place in the EAP International Combined Events Meeting whilst representing England. Beth had already beaten several of her personal bests in order to qualify for the event, but improved again in 3 of the disciplines.

Beth was competing in the U20 Heptathlon competition against competitors from Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Portugal. After running a new PB of 15.48 in the Hurdles, Beth was in 9th Place, clearly showing the calibre of the competition. She then broke her PB in the High Jump by jumping 1.70m, and in doing so won the event by 3cm. This moved her into 3rd place with 5 events to go. After a 5th place in the Shot Putt and 11th in the 200, Beth finished Day 1 in 4th place overall.

Day 2 started with Beth jumping a distance of 5.58m in the Long Jump, which allowed her to qualify for 2nd place and moved her back into the medals overall. After a strong showing in the Javelin, all that remained was the 800m. Beth had a 74 point advantage over the competitor in 4th place, which is equivalent to about 4 seconds. Beth ran brilliantly, achieving a time of 2:23:55, another PB for the day. Her combined points score of 4783 placed her in 3rd place.

Beth was Athletics captain at the College in 2015 and we wish her the best of luck in the future with all of her events.
